When the paths merge again

Sometimes life writes stories that could not have been better captured in any screenplay. Like childhood friends who suddenly find themselves side by side in everyday working life. That's what happened with our creative director Christian and our copywriter Phil.

The qay life plays

How many people from your graduation year are you still in contact with? How many are you still friends with? After school, paths usually diverge, many friendships end — life happens. Studying in another city, making new acquaintances in a working environment, etc. It is rather rare that professional paths continue to converge.

Perhaps even rarer is that the paths of two old friends at work again converge. Just like Christian and Phil. Friends at school, friends in the party room, friends at the dartboard and in Battlerap songs — hach, the carefree life in young adulthood. Then, as is so often the case, careers take different paths — but in this case in a similar direction.

Careers in the creative sector: Two paths, one goal

They both discovered their passion for the creative industry independently of each other. They both worked successfully in different companies and had no professional contacts — until MINT had a vacant copywriter position and Christian thought of his old friend (and his skills, because we don't squander).

“Feeling it? ”
“Yep. ”
“Got work samples? ”
“Yep. ”
“Cool, come on. ”

It must have been something like that back then. Probably with more insults. Friendly, affectionate insults.

Formerly a playground, now an office: Two years of collaboration at MINT

ChatGPT imagines it this way: When Phil finally started at MINT, it almost felt as though fate had brought the two back together again. They got along blindly — in creative exchanges as well as in everyday collaboration. What used to work for darts and beer now works for brainstorms and meetings.

And in a way, that's actually true. You've grown up a bit and calmer, but the characters, the humor, the familiarity have stayed and shines through again and again. This works optimally, especially in creative professions such as ours. We can (from time to time) be silly and dubious, make nonsense — because sometimes that's where the best ideas come from.

Conclusion: Friendship and work — works for us

It's always an experiment, of course, but friendship and work can certainly go hand in hand — if the chemistry is right, you can rely on each other and don't constantly distract yourself from work. And when the right team is around you. We don't have a recipe for success, to be honest, but somehow this mix of work and friendship works really well for both of them.
