Schmidt + Clemens – one of the leading providers of stainless steel solutions – wanted to surprise and impress its future trainees with an eye-catching new recruitment approach.

Breaking away from the familiar? With pleasure! Using the recruitment campaign “Dein großer Wurf” (Your big throw) as a starting point, which plays on S+C's connection to the SV Gummersbach handball club, the idea was born to spice up videos and photos with anime elements, making them more dynamic, youthful, and exciting.

We knew that the idea needed a video to really stir up emotions. Whether we could make this film in an efficient way would ultimately decide the whole idea.

With AI support and a lot of manual fine-tuning, we created a recruiting video that spices up real film footage with special effects and illustrations from the anime toolbox and leaves you wanting more.

It also left our client and us wanting more.

Always up to date

The video takes place on social media and in a web app, which serves as a separate point of contact in addition to the original career section on the S+C website and provides information about internships, training and studies as well as the individual positions. And that is always up to date: The website is designed so that we update it regularly, as new trainees and therefore new faces are constantly being deployed and the recruiting focus on individual occupations also varies.

Cross-media power

In the web app, partially illustrated images are given a little more space. Like the video, these images are used in adverts on social media. Paid social ads, cinema commercials and out-of-home advertising were also used to maximise reach. People are always at the centre of attention and are never overshadowed by showmanship. This strikes the right balance between the 'wow factor' and the real thing that the target group can identify with. Et voilà: a cross-media campaign that is both playful and artistic.
