The careful use of our earth's resources is Speiras, Europe's leading aluminum rolling and recycling company, and one of the most important topics of our time. Together, we have decided to bring this important topic to the next generation and teach children the importance of recycling and the benefits of aluminum as an infinitely recyclable material.
The idea: to create a children's book that not only imparts knowledge, but also tells an exciting story that stimulates the imagination. It's quite a challenge to make this complex topic understandable to children. In “Alina and Eco,” we take children aged five to eight on an illustrative dream journey into the world of aluminum recycling.
“Explain it to me as if I were five years old.” Not so easy when it comes to industrial processes. The jury of the German Design Awards, which we received in 2025 in the “Excellent Communications Design — Books and Calendars” category, also believes that we succeeded in creating the texts and images.
The illustrations by Sarah Schüller take up the playful character of the story and support the communication of the content. Every detail was carefully selected to present the topic in the best possible way and to manage the balancing act between child-friendly presentation and correct facts.
