For the 125th anniversary of the company, a key theme was created that incorporated the year into the headline — a practice that spread across various media and taglines this year. And the topic also runs through the entire sustainability report in terms of content and design.
There are always adjustments that can be turned to create a whole new look and feel. For the 2022 report, for example, we relied more on photos than illustrations; the graphics are more subtle, the colors more subtle. The photos have an invigorating effect and, also due to their different sizes and placement, bring dynamism to the otherwise clearly structured and concise chapters. This creates a layout that makes the sustainability report appear more like a magazine.
Our selection of images not only lightens up the layout, but also gives a report full of statistics, data and figures a great deal of humanity.
As in previous years, the UN goals play a central role. They provide a quick and intuitive overview at the beginning of each chapter. This makes it clear at a glance which goals are covered in which chapter.
For the anniversary edition, we created a connection between past, present and future. To do this, we used juxtapositions of photos, information boxes and other elements that make Messer's development tangible.
